How to balance being a mom, wife, and a small business?
This is the golden question, so much on your plate and you feel completely drained with responsibility. These three titles come with their trials and tribulations as you probably already know. No one can give you the perfect answer but I can surely try and help. Let's go over how I handle juggling the three in my personal life.
When kicking off your business it's such an easy thing to lose yourself in the excitement and thrill of watching what you worked so hard for form. Although working hard is a must consuming your life with working is something that needs to be avoided. This can quickly make you start falling behind in the other very important titles you hold. Setting good boundaries with yourself when it comes to your business is such an awesome start (When should I begin and stop working during the day, Etc.) Following these boundaries will have you off to a good start!
Now, this part varies from one person's life to the next and is the most difficult job in the entire world, being a mom. Being a mom first, then a business owner is something that tons of women struggle with. What I did when first starting and still stick to is during a set amount of time a day I read, play, eat, or just talk to him. That isn't the only time with him but that is our time to just be together with no distracts. With all the housework and everything in-between it's too easy to feel like you are falling behind. Sometimes you just need that personal set rule to avoid the later mom guilt.
Our husband, how great they are! Picking up our slack and supporting us in our passions. Make time for them whether that is a back rub, a sweet letter, or make time and watch a movie with them. Have date nights, I know, where is the time right? Make the time! I always leave my calendar wide open a few times a month to have a family day. Little times like these are so important, makes everyone's life happier. It helps the top two subjects run more smoothly, happy marriage happy life.
Most importantly of them all, YOU! Take care of yourself. Let's face it, us moms have the beautiful habit of putting our families before ourselves. You can't forget about those little things like that bubble bath, read that book, go buy that purse. I try and take a day for myself at least twice a month, I love/need my "mom days". Life is busy and you're running around like crazy so stop, take a breathe and treat yourself. This category is in my opinion the most important one. Taking care of yourself makes you a better mom, wife, and business owner at the end of the day.
You are a rock star and don't forget it for a second. Balancing life is hard but anything is possible just try and remember to not let it pass you by from getting consumed by all of life's responsibilities. I truly hope this gives you some ideas on how to keep yourself grounded.
